Doctors & Staff

Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Hometown Vision Center the leading provider of vision care products and services in North Kingsville.

Dr. Ronald A. Wheeler

Dr. Ronald Wheeler was born and raised in North Kingsville. After graduating from the Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1983, he moved back to Northeast Ohio to start Hometown Vision Center. Dr Wheeler has a reputation for conducting extremely thorough exams including checking internal health on every patient. He is also known for keeping his office on the cutting edge of optical technology which enables him to diagnose and treat health diseases at an earlier stage. He recently celebrated his 30th year in practice and has never regretted his decision to practice Optometry or to relocate back to his home town.

Dr Wheeler lives in North Kingsville and he has 3 grown sons, Brian, Kevin and Todd.

Brenda Kraus

Brenda has been with Hometown Vision Center since 1987, and in that time has amassed a wealth of optical knowledge but more importantly she has become a friend and valued staff member that displays a genuine rapport and respect towards our patients. She became a board certified, state licensed optician in 1991. She is also our Laser Vision coordinator, working closely with TLC Laser Centers. Brenda is known for her expertise in helping patients with their frame selection. She has an “eye” for fashion and years of optical training that equate to an uncanny ability to help our patients select “just the right frame” with the proper fit and fashion appeal. Brenda has a professional as well as personal goal of wanting to make sure each patient feels their best and looks their best when they leave our office wearing their new glasses.

Brenda lives in Conneaut with her husband Tim and they have 2 grown children, Melissa and Micah and 2 grandchildren.

Katrina Thomas

Katrina joined us in the spring of 2005. Katrina became a board certified, state licensed optician in 2008. She has extensive experience in the optical field, having worked with doctors in the United Kingdom and Wyoming. You will recognize Katrina because of her glowing smile and charming British accent. Katrina will be guiding you through our pre-testing procedures and is known as our “contact lens expert”. She works with our first time contact lens patients in training them in proper insertion and removal. She has a wealth of knowledge concerning the hundreds of different types of contact lenses on the market today, and if there is a REBATE available for our patients she will know about it. Katrina lives in North Kingsville with her husband Brent, son Ben and daughter Aspen.
